Campus campaign leaves none out

CHANDIGARH: With the election scenario hotting up on Panjab University campus, student organizations have started campaigning for the final day in a big way. The major chit-chat making the rounds among students is about the strongest contender, secret voting and lavish treats being given by candidates to win votes.
Excited at the poll scene, Ankita, a fresher said, ?Students seem drowned in poll spirit.There is hectic activity everywhere. Leaders are throwing regular parties so that we vote for them. Recently, the Panjab University Students Union (PUSU) treated us by giving movie tickets of ?Once upon a time?.
Swati, another student of UIET department of PU, said, ?We are freshers in the university. During admissions, members of various student organizations helped us. I am confused as to vote for which candidate.?
?I think Student Organization of Panjab University (SOPU) will emerge victorious this time as it is the strongest party. They have been dominating student elections from last two years and are most likely to win again. It will be a hattrick this year,? added Swati.
Radhika, a final-year student of geology department said, ?Leaders want to involve freshers in campaigning. This way they also win their votes and support. However, leaders make many promises but don?t fulfil them. They need to work on this.?
Meanwhile, there are a section of students who are least affected by the much-hyped election scenario in PU. ?Who is bothered whether SOPU wins or PUSU. We are only witnessing the ongoing drama on the campus,? said Amandeep Brar.
Nikita, a student of University Institute of Dental Sciences said, ?Students are much concerned about the disaffiliation of their department by the Dental Council of India (DCI). The party that promises to raise this issue will surely get our support?.
